In every organization Jason Walker was part of, he has always sought out ways to improve effectiveness and efficiency of the teams he could influence.  Key to this was his innate ability to quickly connect with individuals, develop their leadership skills, and draw out their greatest potential, helping them to succeed both professionally and personally.  Jason left every organization better in some aspect than when he joined them.

While in the economic environment that followed the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, Jason Walker started his own consulting business in early 2002 truly out of necessity.  Defining his ideal career, Jason believed that what he wanted to do, and had proven he could do, for any company could be provided much more effectively as an un-biased and outside partner in the business.  Jason started the business focused on productivity improvement and training.

As Jason’s concept and understanding of the value and benefits he could provide evolved and were clarified, he took on additional clients and jobs, and eventually took a position with a financial services firm as the operations and client service manager.  It was in this role that Jason found an opportunity to demonstrate many of his skills.  Jason took the position with the vision that he would optimize operations to the point that it would become a revenue stream for the company.

Jason attacked the opportunity and within the first year had earned his Series 7 and Series 24 licenses and took over as the approving principle for the growing firm with 12 branches across the U.S.  Jason defined the processes, designed and developed the systems and procedures, and selected and nurtured the operations team that was instrumental to the successful broker dealer transition and explosive growth in revenues.

Also key to this growth was Mark Mattingly who joined the financial services firm 2 years after Jason’s arrival.  With the infrastructure that Jason had implemented, combined with Mark’s highly effective sales and marketing talent, the company experienced an unprecedented growth in its 20+ year history, tripling revenues and maintaining excellent client service and operational effectiveness.

Jason and Mark both shared a passion to help small and mid-size companies grow their business.  Combining their complementary skills of leadership, sales, marketing, and operational effectiveness, Build A Business, LLC was formed in March of 2007 as a continuation of what Jason began in 2002.  They realized that coming alongside an owner or executive with a passion for their industry would form a very purposeful, profitable, and worthwhile partnership where the sky would be the limit.
