At Build A Business, our business is building yours. We come alongside businesses to help LEAD them to Higher Net Profits and long-term Growth! Key to this is helping the executive leadership identify and focus on their High Payoff Activities (HPA). I wanted to share additional knowledge tidbits to apply to your life to help you focus and be a more effective and productive leader.
There are some activities that really get you excited. And, there are probably many more that really drain your batteries. The industry talks about Time Management, but I believe that is really a misnomer. We cannot manage one second of time, but we can manage what we spend that time doing. The most successful people spend their time doing those things that energize themselves, and delegate everything else possible.
- Identify what really does and does not energize you. (Ex. Taxes, scheduling appointments, data entry, filing, communicating details, etc.) I recommend our assessment tool to help you.
- Create a plan to STOP doing those things that drain your energy and execute that plan with vigorous discipline.
As you stop doing those activities that drain your energy, you will find ample time and energy to do those imperative activities that you love to do, which will perpetuate into tremendous momentum.
A coach can be extremely beneficial. Consider a baseball coach teaching a batter how to improve his swing. The batter cannot see aspects of his technique that may be limiting the power and/or accuracy of the swing. The coach can observe the batter from different angles and provide valuable feedback to drastically improve his performance and results. Additionally, the coach will help design, teach, and encourage the batter in specific drills to strengthen and reinforce the proper techniques.
We expound on this concept and a great deal more in our Leadership Boot Camps and workshops. Contact Build A Business today if you desire to drastically improve your effectiveness as a leader.
